About Gaurangastakam
An eight-verse hymn to Lord Chaitanya attributed to Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya, the Navadvipa logician who became one of Mahaprabhu's earliest and most learned converts. Each verse closes with the same refrain hailing the 'pure golden one,' moving from Chaitanya's fragrant, radiant form through his thundering sankirtana and mercy for the fallen to, in the final verse, his acceptance of sannyasa and the shaving of his sikha — the very renunciation that, by tradition, so grieved Sarvabhauma's own household when Mahaprabhu later arrived in Puri.
