Govinda Devastakam

May Sri Govindadeva, whose peacock crest gleams with the luster of jewels and a garland of pearls set upon a golden turban, alluring the eyes of all people by the very play of his form, be my shelter.

May Sri Govindadeva, who through the pair of earrings dancing and laughing against his cheeks, their radiance as if kissing them, bewilders the minds of those who worship him, be my shelter.

May Govindadeva, who, by glancing at the person standing before him in order to catch the nectar from the corner of his own beloved's eye, awakens some indescribable emotion in the hearts of the wise, be my shelter.

May Govindadeva, who with the play of his eyebrows, drenched by the radiance of the swinging earring resting against his shining left cheek, drives the women of respectable families mad with love, be my shelter.

May Govindadeva, who even while standing far away draws the gopis in, their ears sealed shut by the sound of his flute and by his own fragrance, entering through their nostrils and going straight to their hearts, be my shelter.

May Govindadeva, who by his ever-fresh abundance of beauty on this earth, revealed through the very ocean of loving devotion of Sri Rupa Goswami, fills the saintly with wonder, be my shelter.

May Govindadeva, who is seated upon the lotus of the sacred yoga-pitha within a jeweled temple beneath a wish-fulfilling tree, worshiped even by those expert in tantric mantras, be my shelter.

May Govindadeva, who at the moment of his grand consecration bath, freshly clothed and ornamented, his radiance overflowing every limb, floods the three worlds with light, be my shelter.

Whoever, with mind fixed upon his feet, recites this Govindadevastakam aloud, him Govindadeva immerses in the very flow of his mercy — may that same Govindadeva be my shelter.
