Translation

Rāma, bearer of the plough, I bow to You. I bow to You who fight with the club. I bow to You, beloved husband of Revatī, and to You who are so tender toward Your devotees. I bow to You, strongest of all the strong, who hold up the earth. Enemy of Pralamba, my obeisances to You. Elder brother of Kṛṣṇa, please protect me.

About Śrī Baladeva Praṇāma

The Brahma Purāṇa (57.22–23) sets this prayer inside the Jagannātha temple at Purī. After the pilgrim has visited Mārkaṇḍeya’s pond, the kalpa-vaṭa banyan and Garuḍa, the Purāṇa tells him to enter the temple, walk around it three times and worship Saṅkarṣaṇa, Lord Balarāma, with this mantra, and only after that to worship Kṛṣṇa. Each line hails Balarāma by one of His features: the plough and club He carries, His wife Revatī, His strength, His holding up the earth, His killing of the demon Pralamba. It ends with a plea: elder brother of Kṛṣṇa, protect me.
