Śrī Nārāyaṇa Praṇāma
Dhyeyaḥ sadā savitṛ-maṇḍala- — Meditation on Nārāyaṇa within the sun
Always meditate on Nārāyaṇa, who abides in the middle of the sun’s orb, seated on a lotus throne. He wears armlets, earrings shaped like makaras, a crown and a necklace; His body shines like gold, and He holds the conch and the disc.
About Śrī Nārāyaṇa Praṇāma
This verse asks the worshipper to see Nārāyaṇa seated on a lotus in the very centre of the sun’s disc, golden in colour and holding the conch and the disc. The full verse is found in the Garuḍa Purāṇa (1.230.34), in a passage on meditation. Śrīla Prabhupāda quotes its first half in his purport to Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 5.7.14, where Mahārāja Bharata worships the Lord in the rising sun; he writes that in the Ṛg Veda the Deity of the sun is worshipped with this mantra, and that every living being should take shelter of Nārāyaṇa as the sun rises.
