About Śrī Śrīvāsa Praṇāma

The third verse names Śrī Śrīvāsa Paṇḍita as Nārada Muni appearing as a devotee, the identity Gauḍīya tradition gives him among Lord Caitanya's associates. It was in Śrīvāsa's courtyard in Navadvīpa that Mahāprabhu held the night-long kīrtanas of His early pastimes, and the verses keep returning to this: his mind delights in kīrtana and he is beloved of the devotees who gather to sing. The second verse promises that even a tiny drop of his mercy awakens love for Śrī Gaurāṅga. The verses come from Śrī Manohara Bhajana Dīpikā, a Bengali compilation; their composer is not known.
