Śrī Sudarśana Praṇāma
Sudarśana mahā-jvāla — Obeisances to Śrī Sudarśana Cakra
O Sudarśana, mighty blaze, radiant as ten million suns! O Lord, I am blind with ignorance; show me the path that leads to Viṣṇu.
About Śrī Sudarśana Praṇāma
Here Sudarśana, the Lord's disc, is addressed as a living person and asked to do one thing: show a soul blinded by ignorance the way to Viṣṇu. The verse calls the cakra a great flame as bright as ten million suns. Devotees recite it when honouring the cakra that crowns many Vaiṣṇava temples; at Purī the Nīla-cakra over Lord Jagannātha's temple is worshipped as Sudarśana. The verse is traditional, its source is not established, and its wording varies a little from place to place.
