Śrī Veṅkaṭeśa Praṇāma
Veṅkaṭādri-samaṁ sthānaṁ — Obeisances to Lord Veṅkaṭeśa of Tirumala
In all the universe there is no holy place to equal Veṅkaṭa Hill, and there has never been, nor will there ever be, a Deity to equal Lord Veṅkaṭeśa.
May all good fortune be with Śrīnivāsa, who lives on Veṅkaṭa Hill: the beloved of the goddess Śrī, the storehouse of every blessing, and the treasure of all who come to Him in need.
About Śrī Veṅkaṭeśa Praṇāma
Pilgrims at Tirumala know the first verse by heart: nowhere in the universe is there a place equal to Veṅkaṭa Hill, and no Deity equal to Lord Veṅkaṭeśa has ever been or ever will be. It is a traditional verse of the hill’s glorification; no exact Purāṇa reference has been confirmed. The second verse opens the Veṅkaṭeśa Maṅgalāśāsanam, which Śrī Vaiṣṇavas ascribe to Prativādi-bhayaṅkara Aṇṇan. In it the devotee does not ask the Lord for anything; he wishes auspiciousness to Śrīnivāsa, “the home of Śrī”, the beloved of Lakṣmī who lives on the hill.
