Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī Praṇāma
Yaḥ sāṅkhya-paṅkena — Obeisances to Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī
The radiance of Kṛṣṇa, the supreme Lord, had been hidden by the mud of Sāṅkhya, the dust of false argument and the pit of the vivarta doctrine. With the nectar of his words Jīva made Him shine clean again. May that master, Jīva, be my refuge.
About Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī Praṇāma
Gauḍīya sources credit this verse to Śrīla Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa and place it at the opening of his Govinda-bhāṣya, the Gauḍīya commentary on Vedānta-sūtra. Its image is of a jewel cleaned of grime: Kṛṣṇa's splendour had been smeared by the mud of Sāṅkhya, the dust of false logic and the pit of the vivarta (illusion) doctrine, and Śrīla Jīva Gosvāmī washed Him clean with the nectar of his words. Baladeva, writing in Jīva's line, asks that Jīva be his refuge.
