śrī-kṛṣṇa-kīrtane jadi mānasa tohāra parama jatane taṅhi labha adhikāra
Word for word
śrī-kṛṣṇa-kīrtane in chanting Kṛṣṇa; jadi if; mānasa the mind; tohāra of you; parama great; jatane effort; taṅhi in that; labha attainment; adhikāra qualified
Translation

If you make a great effort in your heart to chant Lord Kṛṣṇa's holy name, then you will become qualified to chant.

tṛṇādhika hīna dīna akiñcana chāra āpane mānobi sadā chārḍi' ahaṅkāra
Word for word
tṛṇa a blade of grass; adhika more; hīna insignificant; dīna low; akiñcana without anything; chāra ashes; āpane own; mānobi you will think; sadā always; chārḍi' renouncing; ahaṅkāra false ego
Translation

Then You will turn away from false ego. Then you will think yourself more fallen and lowly than a blade of grass, less important than a pile of ashes.

bṛkha-sama khamā-guṇa korbi sādhana pratihiṁsā tyaji' anye korobi pālana

Translation

Then you will be more tolerant than a tree. Turning from violence, you will protect others.

jībana-nirbāhe āne udbega nā dibe para-upakāre nija-sukha pāśaribe

jībana life; nirbāhe in the course; āne to others; udbega distress; nā not; dibe you will give; paraupakāre helping others; nija- sukha - own happiness; pāśaribe you will forget
Translation

In the course of your life you will never give trouble to others. Forgetting your own happiness, you will help others.

hoile-o sarba-guṇe guṇī mahāśoya prathiṣṭhāśā chārḍi' koro amānī hṛdoya

hoile-aḥ is; sarba-guṇe all virtues; guṇī virtuous; mahāśoya saintly; prathiṣṭhā for fame; āśā the desire; chārḍi' renoincing; koraḥ do; amānī humble; hṛdoya heart
Translation

Then you will become saintly. You will have all virtues. Turning from the desire for fame, you will be humble.

Translation

Aware that Lord Kṛṣṇa makes His home in every living entity, You will always give all respects to others.

Translation

Approaching the Lord's feet, Bhaktivinoda says, "O Lord, when will You make me qualified in these ways?"
