Śrī Vṛndāvana Dhāma Praṇāma
Jayati jayati vṛndāraṇyam — Glories of Śrī Vṛndāvana Dhāma
Glory, glory to this forest of Vṛndā, dearer to Murāri than His dwelling in the hearts of great saints or in Vaikuṇṭha. Here, always herding the cows, He delights the gopīs; His flute sounds sweet melodies, and in the rāsa dance He makes their love grow.
About Śrī Vṛndāvana Dhāma Praṇāma
Śrīla Sanātana Gosvāmī says plainly that Vṛndāvana is dearer to Kṛṣṇa than Vaikuṇṭha, and dearer even than the hearts of great saints where He also lives. The verse is from the auspicious opening of his Bṛhad-bhāgavatāmṛta (1.1.5), where he glorifies in turn Mathurā, Vṛndāvana, the Yamunā and Govardhana. The second half shows why the forest is so dear: here Kṛṣṇa tends the cows, plays sweet notes on His flute, and makes the gopīs' love keep growing in the rāsa dance.
