Vaikuntha Hoite Srestha
Greater than Vaikuntha is the city of Mathura, for there Lord Krsnacandra Hari took his birth.
Greater than Mathura is Vrndavana-dhama, for there Hari fulfilled his desire for the festival of the rasa dance.
Greater than Vrndavana is Govardhana Hill, for there the lifter of the hill sported with Gandharvika.
Greater than Govardhana is the bank of Radha-kunda, for there the charming rogue of Gokula brought a flood of the nectar of love.
One who abandons Radha-kunda on the slope of Govardhana Hill and builds his own bower and flower-garden elsewhere —
there is no one more foolish than he. The bank of Radha-kunda is the topmost of all places, the very reservoir of divine love.
About Vaikuntha Hoite Srestha
A well-known Bengali song by Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura that builds a ladder of holy places in ascending order of glory — Mathura above Vaikuntha, Vrndavana above Mathura, Govardhana above Vrndavana — arriving finally at Radha-kunda as the supreme site of all, the very reservoir of prema, echoing the teaching that no place is dearer to Radha and Krsna than its banks.
