With troubled hearts and choked voices they said: "We cannot bear Your merciless words, sharp as arrows."
"Listen, listen, You cunning dark moon, how can You say such a thing after such a bond as this?"
"With the song of Your flute You broke our family honour and modesty, and dragged us here as one drags maidservants by the hair."
"Now, deceitfully, You speak words dressed as righteousness. Does a righteous man steal the garments of young maidens?"
"We surrendered our lives to You to attain the nectar of Your love. If we leave Your feet now, where could we go?"
Hearing the Vraja girls speak thus together, the son of Nanda became joyful.
Blessed by the poet's grace, he takes his delight there; Govinda Dasa beholds it all with joy.

A Bengali pada of Govinda Dasa Kaviraja in the voice of a sakhi reporting the gopis' pleading with Krishna as he prepares to leave Vraja for Mathura -- weeping, they remind him that he swore his life and love to them and ask where he could possibly go now, abandoning their devotion. The final two lines turn the whole scene into Krishna's own delight, and the poet's, at witnessing such deep sakhi-bhava.
