Grantha Kartuh Prarthana
I offer my obeisances to a certain wondrous cuckoo, bewitchingly drawn to the sweetness of the honey rising from the tender, sprout-like lips of Subala's friend (Krishna), and whose brilliance outshines even gold's own wonder.
Long do I glorify that astonishing bee, eager to drink the juice of the bimba-fruit lips of Vrishabhanu's daughter (Radha), who wears a peacock-feather crest and a garment of yellow silk.
O hero of the cowherd settlement, do not vainly take pride thinking, "the moon has been defeated by my own glory" — for the stream of tears from the eyes of your enemies' women has forcibly conquered even the moon's father, the ocean.
In grove after grove, surrounded on all sides by flowing throngs of cowherd women, may Krishna freely conduct the very reign of the flower-bowed god of love. This alone is my prayer, O friend: will that thief who has stolen my heart ever release my bound mind, or will he simply go on and rob me of my very life as well?
