Nārāyaṇa Samarpaṇa Mantra
Kāyena vācā manasendriyair vā — Offering every action to Nārāyaṇa
Whatever I do, with my body, my speech or my mind, with my senses, my intelligence or my very self, or simply driven by my own nature, I give all of it to the Supreme, saying, “This is for Nārāyaṇa.”
A person acts with body and speech, with mind and senses, with intelligence and with the self, each according to the nature he has taken on. Whatever he does in this way, he should give over entirely to the Supreme, thinking, “Let this be for Nārāyaṇa.”
About Nārāyaṇa Samarpaṇa Mantra
The source is Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 11.2.36, where Kavi, the first of the nine Yogendras, tells King Nimi how a devotee lives: whatever he does with body, words, mind, senses, intelligence or self, he hands over to Nārāyaṇa. The first verse on this page is the popular first-person form that many say at the close of a pūjā or a day’s work. It turns karoti, “one does”, into karomi, “I do”, ends with samarpayāmi, “I offer”, and changes part of the second line; who first made this adaptation is not known. The second verse gives the Bhāgavatam’s own words.
