Śrī Godruma candra bhajanopadeśa — Advice to Worship the Moon of Godruma

Sri Godruma-candra-bhajanopadesa, instruction on devotional practice given at Godruma, stands alone as one of Gitavali's shorter sections, holding a single but unusually long twenty-verse song — among the longest single pieces anywhere in the book. Godruma is one of the nine islands of Sridhama Mayapura, where Bhaktivinoda Thakura himself lived for a significant part of his later life and wrote much of his devotional poetry, and naming this section after a real, specific place he knew directly gives it a different character from the more thematically or ceremonially named sections elsewhere in Gitavali. Its unusual length lets the song function less like a short prayer and more like a sustained, step-by-step teaching on approaching Krishna's lotus feet, closer in scale and purpose to instruction meant to be studied than to a piece written primarily for congregational singing.
