Jagannātha Suta Mahāprabhu Biśwambhara
jagannātha-suta mahāprabhu biśwambhara
From Gitavali by Bhaktivinoda Thakura.
Sriman Mahaprabhura Sata-nama gathers one hundred names of Caitanya Mahaprabhu across its four songs, mirroring the structure of Sri Krsnera Vimsottara Sata-nama earlier in Gitavali but directed toward Mahaprabhu rather than Krishna directly — extending the same devotional form of reciting many names in sequence to Mahaprabhu's own identity. The section opens, much as the Krishna-names section does, with Mahaprabhu's family and childhood identity, naming Him son of Jagannatha Misra and by His given name Biswambhara, before moving toward more theological titles, including purifier of the age of Kali, reflecting the central Gaudiya Vaishnava belief that Mahaprabhu's appearance and the congregational chanting He spread are specifically suited to deliver souls in the present age. It closes not on Mahaprabhu's name alone but on His name together with Advaita Prabhu and Nityananda Prabhu, two of the five members of the Pancatattva who are worshipped jointly in Gaudiya Vaishnava practice, reflecting how inseparably the tradition treats them from one another even within a section built around Mahaprabhu's own hundred names.
