Siddhi Lālasā — Hankering for Spiritual Perfection

Siddhi Lalasa, longing for spiritual perfection, is one of the shorter sections near the close of Saranagati, standing after the book's six sections on Rupa Gosvami's classical limbs of surrender and after Bhajana Lalasa's longer treatment of devotional longing in general terms. Where that earlier section expressed longing broadly, Siddhi Lalasa turns toward its most specific and intimate object: service at the feet of Brsabhanu-suta, Srimati Radharani, daughter of King Vrsabhanu. This marks a further, final stage in the progression Saranagati traces — from surrender, through its aftermath of longing, toward an aspiration now named with real specificity rather than left general. Bhaktivinoda Thakura places this section just before the book's closing songs on the glory of the holy name and final acceptance, letting Saranagati's account of surrender arrive, by its penultimate stages, at this particular devotional goal.
