Rasa kīrtana — Chanting the Glories of the Transcendental Mellows

Rasa-kirtana, glorification of divine mellow, is one of four short, single-song sections that close out Kalyana-Kalpataru's third division, Ucchvasa, alongside Rupa-kirtana, Guna-kirtana, and Lila-kirtana — a marked contrast to the twenty-song Updesa and twelve-song Prarthana-Lalasamayi earlier in the book, letting Bhaktivinoda Thakura's 1881 songbook close on a series of brief, focused glimpses rather than another extended sequence. Its single song, describing the sound of Krishna's flute and the sight of His picture, brings the book's long movement through instruction, realization, and longing to rest on this one image of Krishna's beauty and sound, treated as the fitting object toward which everything preceding it has been building.
