Līlā kīrtana — Chanting the Glories of the Lord's Pastimes

Lila-kirtana, glorification of Krishna's pastimes, closes with an image of Krishna on the bank of the Yamuna, the river central to His pastimes throughout Vaishnava literature — the single most recorded song across the whole of this Kalyana-Kalpataru project, closing the entire book, after its long movement through instruction, self-examination, prayer, and glorification, on Krishna's own most intimate pastoral landscape rather than on further argument. Its opening song describes Hari of Goloka, Krishna's own eternal abode in Gaudiya Vaishnava cosmology, showing mercy to the fallen souls — a distinction between Goloka and the earthly Vrindavana where those pastimes are traditionally understood to be re-enacted that recurs across several of Bhaktivinoda Thakura's other songbooks and prose writings as well.
