Govinda Ghosa was, with his brothers Vasudeva and Madhava, one of three siblings from the village of Kulai on the Ajay river who became eternal associates of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda Prabhu, celebrated as expert kirtan singers — the three brothers formed one of the seven kirtan parties present when Mahaprabhu attended the Ratha-yatra festival at Jagannatha Puri. The three songs gathered here under Govinda's own signature move between gaura-candrika and a verse describing Radha's own beauty, reflecting the same range their combined kirtan performances were famous for.
