Locana dāsa

From Songs of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Acaryas by Narahari dāsa.

Locana dasa Thakura, born around 1520 in the village of Kograma, was a disciple of Narahari Sarkara Thakura — a connection this site's own records cannot fully verify against its separate Narahari dasa chapter elsewhere in this book, given the naming ambiguity already noted there. Locana dasa's own major and independently documented work is the Chaitanya-mangala, a full biographical account of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's life written at his guru's order and based on Murari Gupta's earlier Sanskrit biography; the book was later renamed to distinguish it from Vrndavana dasa Thakura's own Chaitanya-bhagavata, which had first carried the same title. The six songs gathered here under his signature move beyond gaura-candrika into more varied territory, including a narrative song touching on Lakshmi Devi.
